Netflix is expanding on the world of the hit series Vikings with a prequel series called Vikings: Valhalla. The upcoming show will feature some very famous--or infamous--Viking names from history.
Leading the way on Valhalla is Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson. Corlett is primarily known for his work on another Netflix original series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which recently wrapped up with Season 4. Frida Gustavsson will be taking on the role of Freydis Eriksdotter, brother to Leif. The two are the children of Erik the Red. Gustavsson appeared on an episode of The Witcher during the first season.

Joining the two are Leo Suter (Sanditon) as Harald Sigurdsson, Bradley Freegard (Doctors) as King Canute, Jóhannes Jóhannesson (Game of Thrones) as Olaf Haraldson, Laura Berlin (Einstein) as Emma of Normandy, David Oakes (The Borgias) as Earl Godwin, and Caroline Henderson (Max Embarassing) as Jarl Haakon.
While the original Vikings series followed the journeys of the Ragnars of early medieval Scandinavia in the 13th century, Valhalla will take place a couple hundred years prior. Eriksson is a Greenlader and thought to have been the first known European to set foot on the Americas.

The Vikings spinoff was announced in early 2019, and the show will be executive produced by Jeb Stuart, Michael Hirst, Morgan O’Sullivan, James Flynn, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer, Sheila Hockin and John Weber. Stuart will also be the writer and showrunner. Niels Arden Oplev will direct the first episode.
At the time of this writing, no release date has been announced for the new Netflix show.
The main Vikings series came to an end back in December after six seasons, with the final season airing first on Amazon Prime.
