Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming second season of its live-action adaptation of 2007's madcap comics series, The Umbrella Academy. Season 2 is slated to debut July 31, and it really says something that the low-key split-second appearance of Shubunkin Goldfish--a character with a human body and fish bowl (complete with fish) for a head--is hardly the weirdest thing in the trailer. Check out the trailer below.

This season finds the dysfunctional superhero Hargreeves siblings escaping the apocalypse by time traveling to '60s Dallas, with an opportunity to right wrongs and check time-era appropriate things off the old bucket list. The comics, like the show, doesn't shy away from straight-faced detours into the surreal and bizarre--like the Hargreeves learning that the Eiffel Tower is a space ship piloted by a zombie.
If the end of July feels like a long time to wait and you haven't yet read the comics, our guide comparing them to the TV show is worth looking into.
The Netflix series, created by Steve Blackman (an executive producer on Legion and also Altered Carbon) and developed by Jeremy Slater (a writer on the Netflix Death Note adaptation), features a cast that includes Ellen Page, Justin H. Min, and Emmy Raver-Lampman.
