Netflix's period drama The Last Kingdom is coming to an end. The streaming company has confirmed that the upcoming fifth season will be its last.
The historical series about a warrior in the ninth-century England is based on Bernard Cornwell's The Saxon Stories novels, and it was first available on the BBC before it moved to Netflix years ago.
The reckoning is approaching…

Season 5 is currently shooting in Hungary, and there are 10 episodes planned. Producer Nigel Marchant teased that not every character will survive the events of the final season. The show focuses on the warrior Uhtred, who is played by Alexander Dreymon.
"With such a loyal fanbase, we're excited to give viewers a chance to follow Uhtred on the next stage of his epic quest, where not everyone survives," producer Nigel Marchant said, as relayed by Deadline.
Dreymon said for his own part: "Playing Uhtred for 5 seasons has been a wonderful journey." Dreymon will helm an episode of the final season, making his directorial debut.
While The Last Kingdom is ending, fans of shows with lots of horses and swordfighting won't go too long with more of what they want, as Netflix's The Witcher is coming back for Season 2 in 2021.
