The first trailer for The Crown Season 4 is here. Netflix's lavish period drama charts the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, from the 1950s until the present day. This latest season will focus on the Royal Family in the 1980s.

　　The trailer puts the focus on one the new additions to the show's cast--Emma Corrin (Pennnyworth) as Lady Diana Spencer. It shows Diana meeting Prince Charles and their lavish wedding day, but unsurprisingly, the tone of the trailer is far from happy. There's also footage of X-Files star Gillian Anderson as Prime Minster Margaret Thatcher, plus Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter reprising their Season 3 roles as Elizabeth and her sister Margaret respectively. 　　The Crown Season 4 also stars Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, and Stephen Boxer as Dennis Thatcher. It's written by creator Peter Morgan and hits Netflix on November 15.

　　There are two more seasons of The Crown to follow. Despite the fact that six seasons was the original plan, in January, Morgan revealed that it would end with Season 5. However, six months later, this decision was reversed, when Morgan explained that extra episodes would be required to "cover the same period in greater detail."

　　The cast will change once more for Seasons 5 and 6. Imelda Staunton will take over from Colman, while Tenet star Elizabeth Debicki will play Diana. However, there will be a longer break before we see Season 5. Season 4 was entirely filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down productions across the world, but Season 5 hasn't started shooting yet and won't be released until 2022.
