Netflix's Narcos Mexico Seasons 3 Adds Bad Bunny To Cast
Netflix's Narcos Mexico Seasons 3 Adds Bad Bunny To Cast-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 3:37 PM

The highly acclaimed Netflix-produced crime drama Narcos ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2018 and focused on the rise and fall of real-life drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. There were plans for a fourth season, but instead the show was reset as a new series, titled Narcos: Mexico. Season 3 is on the way, and some new names have been added to the cast.

The highest profile new actor to join the series is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as singer and rapper Bad Bunny. Ocasio will guest star as Arturo "Kitty" Paez, a real-life gangster who was part of the "Narco Juniors" gang of young, rich cartel members working for druglord Ramon Arellano Felix. Ocasio previously teased he would be making his acting debut earlier this year, when he told Rolling Stone about "shooting scenes as a supporting actor."

Now Playing: Narcos: Mexico - Official Trailer

The other three additions to the cast will be series regulars. Luis Gerardo Méndez will appear as Victor Tapia, a "Juarez cop with a moral dilemma," Alberto Guerra as "independent drug trafficker" Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, and Luisa Rubino as "ambitious journalist" Andrea Nuñez.

Netflix has also released a synopsis for Narcos: Mexico Season 3. It reads, "Set in the '90s, when the globalization of the drug business ignites, Season 3 examines the war that breaks out after Felix's empire splinters. As newly independent cartels struggle to survive political upheaval and escalating violence, a new generation of Mexican kingpins emerge. But in this war, truth is the first casualty--and every arrest, murder and take-down only pushes real victory further away."

Narcos: Mexico Season 3 is expected in 2021 but doesn't have a release date yet. It also stars Alejandro Furth, Lorenzo Ferro, José Zúñiga, and Diego Calva. The showrunner is Carlo Bernard, while Halt and Catch Fire's Scoot McNairy will narrate the show once more.
