During Netflix's Drop 01 virtual event, a first look at the upcoming series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft was finally unveiled in a new teaser trailer you can check out below. The show is due to hit Netflix in 2024.
The trailer doesn't reveal much about the plot, but it does highlight the game adaptation's visual style and action sequences. In the brief one-minute clip, we dive into a mysterious cave, catch a glimpse of a mythical winged creature (monster?), follow Lara as she dives into a cavernous pit, and witness her expertly loose an arrow from her bow.
For the longest time before this trailer, updates on the series had been relatively scarce. In 2021, it was announced that the animated series added two new cast members, including the actor Earl Baylon, who voiced Jonah in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Baylon will voice the same character in the anime. Additionally, Allen Maldonado (Heels, The Last OG) was been cast as the voice for Zip, a character who previously appeared in Tomb Raider Chronicles, Legend, and Underworld. As previously announced, Hayley Atwell (Peggy from the Captain America movies) voices Lara Croft.
Earlier this month, an announcement confirmed that the first three Tomb Raider games will arrive on both console and PC in early 2024 as part of a single package, featuring enhanced visuals. Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr are collaboratively developing the game, scheduled for release on February 14, 2024. Players will have the option to switch between the original polygonal graphics and updated visuals at the press of a button.
