Netflix Debuts Teaser For Wendell & Wild, New Stop-Motion Project From Henry Selick And Jordan Peele-October 2024

Chances are you're familiar with Henry Selick's work even if you don't immediately recognize his name. The legendary director has been creating some of the most memorable stop-motion animation to ever hit the big screen for decades, starting with The Nightmare Before Christmas back in 1993 and extending to more recent projects like Coraline from 2009. Now, Selick is returning to the director's chair with a new project, and this time he's bringing horror legend Jordan Peele along with him.

Wendell & Wild, a "dark fantasy comedy horror movie," was co-written by Selick and Peele and hits Netflix in October of this year. At Geeked Week, the streamer debuted an exclusive clip, which you can check out now.

Jordan Peele?! Henry Selick! Watch this equal parts terrifying and cuddly #GeekedWeek exclusive clip from their upcoming stop motion film Wendell and Wild. Premiering this October. pic.twitter.com/wzUicOyM6L

Wendell & Wild stars two scheming demon brothers, Wendell and Wild, voiced by Peele and his long-time cohort Keegan-Michael Key, as they enlist the help of a 13-year-old, Kat (Lyric Ross) to summon them into the land of the living. Rounding out the cast are Angela Bassett, James Hong, and Ving Rhames. This will be Selick's first in 13 years.

In the clip, we see Kat trying to rescue what looks like a confiscated (and possessed) teddy bear called "Bearzebub" out from a teacher's desk. It's difficult to guess what this could possibly mean in context, but hey, they animation looks incredible nonetheless.

Wendell & Wild arrives on Netflix in October. In the meantime, check out our continuing coverage for all the Geeked Week reveals and announcements.
