Fans of the outrageous '80s cartoon throwback game Far Cry: Blood Dragon will be happy to hear that Netflix is making an animated series taking place in that world. It's called Captain Laserhawk, A Blood Dragon Remix.
Adi Shankar (Castlevania, Dredd) announced the series during Geeked Week. He said to think of "Captain N but good." The show is a cyberpunk dystopia set in 1992, and got a six-episode order. It's a spinoff of the Far Cry 3 expansion Blood Dragon, which was a bombastic, over-the-top game, which felt a whole lot like a GI Joe cartoon. Check out the announcement tweet below.

Bobby Pills will be doing the animation, which will be overseen by artist Balak as creative director and Shankar made it a point to mention the world of Saturday morning cartoons, which he obviously drew inspiration from for the new series.
Additionally, a Far Cry animated series was announced, but there are no release dates for either of these shows at this time.
