Neo Is Haunted And Comforted By His Past In New Matrix Resurrections Clip-December 2024
Dec 23, 2024 10:26 PM

Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new clip for The Matrix Resurrections, which will be in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.

Just over a minute long, this new sneak-peek clip debuted during The Game Awards, and is a quintessential slice of transcendent disorientation synonymous with the film franchise. After entering a rooftop moving portal, which transports Neo inside a train shuttling through Japan, he enters a cabin and is greeted by two old friends: himself, and Morpheus, in their first meeting. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen), now in the role of Morpheus, tells Neo, "Nothing comforts anxiety like a little nostalgia." Check out the clip below--but don't expect it to make sense, maybe, until you see it in the context of the film.

“What do they use with no landlines?” This sneak peek from The Game Awards has your answer.

This clip also strongly references previous clips that emphasize the film heavily featuring déjà vu as an important plot point. It would seem, in many ways we cannot begin to fully comprehend or appreciate, that the highly-anticipated sequel will recast or reframe many crucial moments from the original trilogy.

The Matrix: Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne-Moss, Jessica Henwick (Underwater), Ellen Hollman (Spartacus), Jonathan Groff (Mindhunter), Priyanka Chopra (We Can Be Heroes), and Daniel Bernhardt (Birds of Prey). The fourth movie in the series is directed by Lana Wachowski. Lilly Wachowski will not be working again with her sister on the latest movie, as she didn't want to step back into the world of The Matrix.

Also during The Game Awards, an impressive techo demo titled The Matrix Awakens was released as a free download on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Games Store.
