One of the best games ever made by the Uncharted and The Last of Us series developer Naughty Dog, Jak II, is now available on PC thanks to an unofficial port.
The port, which was developed by OpenGOAL and requires a copy of the original release to run, is part of an ongoing project that attempts to mimic the original GAOL language to deliver native and as accurate as possible ports featuring the same identical gameplay, slightly enhanced visuals and performance, with experimental support for higher framerates as well, quality of life improvements. Interestingly enough, the port also comes with custom level support for the PC ports of the first two entries in the series, although still in the very early stages.
Given how Naughty Dog doesn't seem interested in bringing back the series anytime soon, this unofficial Jak II port is extremely welcome, as the game is still one of the best games ever released by the studio. You can learn more about the project and how to use a copy of the original game to run the unofficial port on its official website.
Jak II's developer's latest title is The Last of Us Part I, the remake of the first entry in the series originally released on PlayStation 3. You can learn more about the game by checking out Kai's review.
The Last of Us Part I is a testament to how timeless this Cormac McCarthy-inspired tale is. Fully remade for Sony’s latest console generation, if this is the first chance a player has to experience the post-outbreak tale, it’s without a doubt the best version to play. Both visual and mechanical enhancements bring this title to life as no other Naughty Dog game has done before. However, the omission of the multiplayer component is lamented by fans of the original that cannot be overlooked for keeping The Last of Us Part I from being a perfect gaming experience.
