With Empire: Total War, The Creative Assembly modernized its long-running hybrid turn-based/real-time military strategy franchise. The PC title focused on the establishment of many European civilizations during the 18th century, touching on such subjects as the industrial revolution, the United States' Revolutionary War, and Asian trade routes.
Only one man would dare to wear such a hat... As part of GamesCom in Cologne, Germany, today, Sega and The Creative Assembly announced that they would be advancing their campaign into the 19th century with Napoleon: Total War. The game is expected to arrive for the PC in February 2010.
As its name suggests, Napoleon: Total War follows legendary French general and (later) Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, illustrating his ascent and fall from power through the battles he waged on the battlefield. Creative Assembly tracks Napoleon's progress beginning with his early campaigns in Italy and Egypt, through his frozen defeat in Russia, and concluding with his ultimate defeat at the hands of the Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo.
Players will also be able to assume command of Napoleon's enemies, facing off against the strategic savant on historical battlefields. The game will also include a number of features that defined the well-received Empire: Total War, including land and sea engagements, a detailed campaign map, and expanded diplomacy mechanics.
