Namco has released 50 new screenshots for its forthcoming flight combat simulation Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. The shots of the PlayStation 2 game showcase aerial refueling, squadron formations, and coordinated attacks. Fans of the series of Ace Combat games can take a look at F-16s, SU-35s, and Rafale jets, among others. Additionally, these aircraft can be seen in formation and taking off and landing at a desert base. The new screenshots also include the game's sonic boom visual effect, which can be seen as an F-16 breaks the sound barrier.
Ace Combat 5 is due out this fall, and it will send players and up to three controllable wingmen on more than 30 missions, including air-to-air combat, air-to-ground attacks, air-to-sea strikes, rescue flights, and recon forays. More than 50 licensed aircraft will be available in the final game. See GameSpot's hands-on look at Ace Combat 5 from this year's E3.
