Alongside the western launch of its first ever mobile game/app hybrid, Miitomo, Nintendo has also rolled out its new Club Nintendo-esque rewards program, called My Nintendo.

　　Much like Club Nintendo, the new program allows you to earn points for doing different things and then cash those in for prizes. There are three types of points, each with its own rewards available: Platinum points, Gold points, and Miitomo points.

　　Miitomo points are, as you'd expect, earned by playing Miitomo. Platinum points are earned doing things like signing into the eShop and Miiverse weekly, or linking your Nintendo Account to your Facebook or Twitter accounts. These two types of points can be combined to purchase things for use in Miitomo, discounts on Wii U and 3DS games (like 15 percent off The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD or Animal Crossing: New Leaf), 3DS themes, and even full games (like WarioWare: Touched and My Nintendo Picross - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess).

　　Gold points require you to actually spend money: These points come only from buying digital games. You'll get different amounts depending on exactly how much the game in question costs--there are different tiers that each award a specific amount, such as $5-$9.99 (10 points) and $50-$59.99 (60 points).

　　Accordingly, the rewards are better for Gold points. These include steeper discounts (30 percent off Splatoon or The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, for example) and a wider selection of free games (Donkey Kong Country Returns, Super Punch-Out, the New Super Luigi U DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U, and more).

　　You can sign up for My Nintendo now and begin earning points and rewards. A list of "missions" shows all the ways you can earn points, many of which are quick and easy to do. At this point, we don't know how often new missions or rewards will be rolled out, but we'll keep you apprised as new things become available.
