When Activision announced Call of Duty: XP--the first annual convention celebrating the first-person shooter franchise--in June, the publisher did so without letting loose all it had to say about the show. Now, Activision has offered new intelligence, saying all who attend the convention will walk away with a voucher to pick up the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3 this November. XP attendees will get the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3.
According to Activision, all XP ticket-holders will score a redemption code that can be redeemed for a free copy of the teased Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3 when it launches on November 8. Activision did not note how the redemption program will work, and as of press time, the publisher had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
In addition to that, Activision offered new details on the mysterious Call of Duty: Elite live-action series, first teased when Elite was announced at the end of May. It is currently in development--in partnership with Ben Silverman's Electus Studio--at Will Arnett and Jason Bateman's production company Dumbdumb. Arnett will be on hand at the convention, where he will guide attendees through a preview of the series.
Gamers can also enjoy other attractions at the two-day Call of Duty convention. These include a $1 million Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 tournament, access to an "entertainment extravaganza," and the ability to take part in a paintball match set in a real-world re-creation of Modern Warfare 2's Scrapyard map.
Tickets for Call of Duty: XP are currently available for $150 each, which lets attendees in for both days of the show. One hundred percent of ticket proceeds will go to the Call of Duty Endowment, an initiative whose aim is to help veterans find paths to careers after the completion of their service in the military.
