MTV To Revive Clone High With Phil Lord, Chris Miller
MTV To Revive Clone High With Phil Lord, Chris Miller-November 2024
Nov 23, 2024 4:06 PM

MTV Studios has announced it will be reviving Clone High, the short-lived but widely loved 2002 animated series about--as the name suggests--a high school whose student body is comprised entirely of clones of famous historical figures. Co-creators Bill Lawrence, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller will be re-uniting to develop the revival.

According to a Viacom release, series writer Erica Rivinoja will serve as showrunner, and will also be co-writing the pilot with Lord and Miller. Since Clone High, Lord and Miller have become filmmakers perhaps best known for The Lego Movie and its sequel, as well as Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and its forthcoming 2022 sequel. Lawrence went on to create the Emmy-winning Scrubs and Cougar Town.

Clone High was a time capsule of the early 2000s, both a parody, satire, and celebration of emo culture. It's unclear how many episodes of this update will be put into production, or when they might air. But the release indicates that the characters Abraham Lincoln, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, and John F. Kennedy will be returning--though it's also unclear whether their original voice actors (including Will Forte, Nicole Sullivan, Christa Miller, and Michael McDonald) will be reprising their roles. No network has yet been named for the series.

This is the latest animated cult hit MTV show enjoying a revival--recently, it was announced that Beavis and Butt-Head will be getting two new seasons, along with the possibility for additional spin-offs and specials.
