Elizabeth Banks' upcoming movie about a bear that ate a lot of cocaine has put together a very impressive cast. Deadline reports that movie studio Universal has hired Keri Russell, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich, O'Shea Jackson, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson to star in the movie, which is called Cocaine Bear. Banks confirmed the casting in a social media post.
Filming will begin this August in Ireland. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) are producing the movie, which is based on a true story reported by the New York Times in 1985 as "Cocaine and a Dead Bear."

As reported by the New York Times, a 175-pound black bear was found dead near the Tennessee-Georgia state line after apparently consuming over 70 pounds of cocaine that had been dropped from a plane by a local drug smuggler. The smuggler, Andrew Thornton, also met a bad end in Nashville, Tennessee after trying to carry too heavy a load while parachuting. The film is being described as a horror comedy and a thriller.
Jimmy Warden (The Babysitter: Killer Queen) wrote the script for Cocaine Bear. However, official plot details are being kept under wraps for now.
As for Banks, she previously directed Pitch Perfect 2 and the Charlie's Angels reboot.
