Mortal Kombat 11 DLC Trailer Teases A Story Continuation [Update]
Mortal Kombat 11 DLC Trailer Teases A Story Continuation [Update]-January 2024
Jan 14, 2025 6:48 AM

Mortal Kombat 11 has received numerous new fighters through its multiple post-launch content seasons, and developer NetherRealm Studios has made it clear that MK11 will be supported long-term. But the next big release will include additional story chapters for the game's narrative campaign. Called Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, it features additional stages and fatalities, as well as two returning characters from the series' past. There is also an additional guest character who should make '80s action fans very happy.

In the first teaser, Raiden and Lui Kang are seen where the story left them at the end of Mortal Kombat 11's story, as they begin work on creating new timeline for Earth. At least until the unexpected arrival of sorcerer Shang Tsung and some cohorts interrupts them. Considering where Mortal Kombat 11 left the entirety of this series' universe, NetherRealm has a blank slate to experiment with moving forward.

Now Playing: Mortal Kombat 11 - The Epic Saga Continues Teaser Trailer

Since launch multiple series favorites have joined the roster, including Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Sindel. It also included characters from other properties entirely, such as Joker, The Terminator, and Spawn. Aftermath brings back Fujin and Sheeva, and it adds guest character RoboCop. Anyone familiar with the original film knows it's suitably violent for a Mortal Kombat cameo. Peter Weller, who played the character in the original game, will reprise his role.

Mortal Kombat 11 was another great addition to the modern run of Mortal Kombat titles, which kicked off with the ninth entry in the series back in 2011. In our 9/10 Mortal Kombat 11 review, critic Edmond Tran wrote, "There's a diverse roster of interesting characters and playstyles, and the story mode is an entertaining romp. The randomization of Krypt rewards and the odd issue with the game's always-online nature can occasionally chip away at your patience, but Mortal Kombat 11 absolutely hits where it matters."
