According to information shared online in the past few days, Mortal Kombat 1 will leave the previous generation consoles behind, launching only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, alongside PC. Interestingly enough, the game will also be launching on Nintendo Switch, although it is likely it will be a cloud version and not a native one. According to other rumors, the game will be a reboot of the entire series, and it will feature Peacemaker as an additional guest character that will be offered as part of the game's first Character Pass.

The Mortal Kombat series has always been popular since its debut back in the early 90s but reached new levels of popularity with the latest entries in the series, including Mortal Kombat 11, which our own Nathan found to be a first-class fighting game experience in his review.

Mortal Kombat 11 is a first-class fighting game experience, featuring rock-solid core mechanics, impressive production values, and a story that wouldn’t be out of place alongside the summer’s biggest blockbusters. Of course, the game also suffers from some of the drawbacks of big-budget game development, including grindy customization and tacked-on microtransactions, but that stuff is largely superfluous. Beneath the triple-A fat, Mortal Kombat’s bloody heart still beats as strong as ever.

Mortal Kombat 1 is rumored to launch this September on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. We will let you know more about the game as soon as it is officially unveiled, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
