More on Legaia, Sony's Latest RPG-December 2024
Dec 14, 2024 7:31 PM

New details have emerged regarding SCEI's new action/RPG, The Legend of Legaia.

Three new characters have been introduced: May, Songhi, and Teruma. Here are brief profiles of these characters.

May is a teenage girl who is Vann's neighbor. Her mother left home when she was a child, and so she was raised by her father.

Vann and May are like brother and sister, but secretly she has stronger feelings for him. Her personality is very polite - some would say meek - but in times of crisis it will become apparent that she's much stronger than she's letting on.

Songhi is a warrior who was raised in the same monastery as Ghara. However, he sounds like a potential troublemaker as he has a very jealous nature. Although he is not as powerful as Ghara, in battle he is unpredictable as he abides by no rules but his own. He will use whatever means necessary to emerge as victor.

Teruma is a giant wolf who can speak to humans. Teruma is one of the wolves responsible for raising Noah (the main female character). Not much else is known about this mysterious wolf except that it plays an important role in the game.

In addition to the main characters, there are a couple of new elements to the game that have been introduced. A creature simply known as the Cell (it looks like a big fly) can be used to help the characters fly in the game. The only trouble is that you cannot let them touch the mist that envelopes the land or else you change into an evil creature.

Another denizen of the forest is known as the La-Cell. The La-Cell is something that looks like a lima bean with an eye. It can change into something resembling a hand, and later, a hand with wings. This creature is sentient and gives advice to the main characters as they make their way through the game. Unlike the Cell, it is unaffected by the mist, making it a strong and useful ally.

Similar in fashion to the Panzer Dragoon series, Legend of Legaia seems to be taking a biomechanical approach to gameplay. Everyday items and objects are given a new twist - like suspension trains boasting a "half-insect half-train" design. Still no announcement from Sony about US plans for this extremely promising RPG.
