Gamers2: Yuuki, Jwaow, Ocelote, Morden, DioudToday, Gamers2 announced the departure of one of its founding members. Sebastian 'Morden' Esteban Fernandez is stepping down, citing lack of motivation. The jungler expressed his desire to exit the team before the Challenger Series playoffs in Germany, but in the end, he accompanied the team to Cologne. Team owner and captain, Carlos 'Ocelote' Santiago, had the following to say:
He told me some weeks ago that he was thinking about leaving the competitive scene for quite long, but he accepted to play with us Cologne’s playoff for relegation; and even thought we didn’t do that great there, Morden’s attitude could not have been better. That’s they guy he is, a good teammate, but an incredible friend.
I’ll miss you so much “Mertan Sebastian” (this is how Jwaow use to call him); playing Fifa won’t be the same without you. I think I’ve never played against someone like you, my eyeballs were dropping from the eye caves seeing how easy all those games were. I think he played with the controller backwards! But remember never try to compete with him at the swimming pool, he is like a shark men!.
Whatever u do, enjoy it, man.
Sebastian himself shared his thoughts on the matter:
Hello summoners, as some of you guys know already I'm leaving G2. This is my own decision and has nothing to do with the team, club or anything. I went to our manager and Oce some days before playoffs to say I wanted to stop playing for a while because I lost motivation to play, but with a few days for playoffs we decided to play it together, we didnt have enought time to train with any other and it would be egoistic by me to just leave the team so we just were waiting after playoffs. I tried my best to keep my mood positive and for my teammates. I'm gonna take a break from competitive (Not sure how long, but I hope not much) and come as soon as possible with more energy. I want to thanks G2 for everything they did for me and for my teammates, thanks to the family of Ocelote for being there everyday and especially thanks to Oce for this opportunity. There is not much else to say, Cya soon!
Morden came to prominence in Season 3 when the Spanish Giants entered the first edition of EU LCS after defeating mousesports 2-0 in the offline qualifier. Despite good performances from Morden and mid laner Exterminare, Giants finished 7th with a disappointing record of 8-20. Having to go through a grueling best-of-five against Alternate, the Spanish team almost returned to the LCS, but Kerp and co stopped them with a 3000 ELO Shockwave.
Sebastian joined Gamers2 in late February and has been a highly ranked Challenger player ever since achieving a number of top 3 placings in Challenger tournaments across Europe.
