Monster Hunter World PC In-Game Squads Replaced With Steam Groups; New Gameplay Shared-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 10:26 PM

Monster Hunter World is finally releasing on PC next week, and it seems like those who waited for this release will be getting a slew of exclusive features not found in the console release.

Destructoid recently confirmed that the PC version of Monster Hunter World replaces in-game squads with Steam groups

As I was heading off to the smithy, I accidentally clicked on the Gathering Hub instead. As I loaded in, I totally freaked out: how the hell was the Destructoid logo next to my name?! Did Capcom know which code they sent to which outlet and did something fancy? No way, I'm not even sure that would be possible.

Turns out, the game uses your "Primary Group" on Steam and pulls the logo from that.

This new feature is definitely an improvement, considering it's easier to manage Steam groups than the Squads found in the console release.

On a related note, new  footage has been shared recently by FluffyQuack, the same user who revealed some new stuff on the PC port last week. You can check out the new footage below.

And here's a list of features and notes worthwhile to mention of the PC version: - I get an average framerate of around 75 with my PC playing at 2560x1440 (i7-4790k, gtx 1080, 16gb ram). - Game supports text chat. - Graphics settings seem pretty scalable (I highly recommend turning off Volume Rendering Quality as that has a big impact on performance and I don't think the effect looks very good anyway). - Netcode seems good. I did one coop hunt and I couldn't feel any noticeable lag. - Game has pretty cool kitties. - There's full keyboard and mouse support (you can turn on a keyboard version of the radial menu which is pretty fast to use). - While you can use 21:9 resolutions, it results in pillarboxing (game seems to always force 16:9 aspect ratio). - I've experienced a few crashes. I've sent details of each crash to Capcom and I'm hoping there will be a patch before release.

Monster Hunter World launches on PC on August 9th.
