Monster Hunter: World and Dragon Ball FighterZ Top the January NPD Software Charts-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 8:36 AM

The NPD Group have released their full January sales data, and it was a good month for Japanese publishers. The Nintendo Switch topped the hardware charts yet again, and the software charts were headlined by Monster Hunter: World and Dragon Ball FighterZ. The two newcomers bumped previous chart-topper Call of Duty: WWII down to third spot, which is impressive, as Monster Hunter and Dragon Ball were on sale for less than a week in January (both came out January 26).

Other notable takeaways include PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continuing to climb the charts (NPD’s numbers are based solely on the Xbox One version, since they don’t track Steam sales) and Star Wars Battlefront II’s hard drop from #2 in December to the #11 spot in January. Meanwhile, the struggling Destiny 2 has completely disappeared from the list.

  Here’s the NPD’s full January top 20:

The game has already moved 6 million copies, and no major games are coming out this month, so it’s certainly possible! What games did you pick up in January?
