MLB The Show 23 Best Teams - Ranking The Top 10-November 2024

  MLB The Show 23 has arrived, bringing a new year of baseball simulation to major platforms. In addition to new features like true two-way players and the universal DH, there is also a new mode called Storylines, which will focus on highlighting players from the Negro League. The launch also brings freshly updated rosters and player ratings, resulting in new rankings for all of the MLB teams. Here's which teams snagged the top ten spots in MLB The Show 23.

  

10. St. Louis Cardinals

The reigning National League Central division winner with a 96-69 record, the St. Louis Cardinals take the number 10 spot in MLB The Show 23. While the team has middling Speed and Defense, coming in at 22nd and 21st respectively, the Cardinals managed to take a top 10 spot based on its roster's power. Ranked 2nd in the league in power, only behind the Atlanta Braves, the St. Louis Cardinals roster has returning power hitters like 1B Paul Goldschmidt and 3B Nolan Arenado, as well as recent additions to the team like former Cub C Willson Contreras.

9. Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners, who secured a Wildcard Spot with a 90-72 record, are ranked 9th this year in MLB The Show 23. With the 8th best power and 9th best pitching in the league, the Mariners secure their spot in-game ahead of a promising real-life season. The roster includes AL Rookie of the Year CF Julio Rodríguez and recent addition, starting pitcher SP Luis Castillo. While no players on the roster have above an overall rating of 90, the majority of starting players all have either A or B potential, making the Mariners a contender.

  

8. Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels are the only team in the top 10 coming off a losing season. Coming off a 73-89 season, the Los Angeles Angels nab the 8th spot thanks to being 6th in Power, 10th in Defense, and 12th in both Contact and Pitching. The Los Angeles Angels also have two players with a 99 Overall rating in SP/DH Shohei Ohtani and CF Mike Trout. Other notable players include RF Hunter Renfroe and SP Tyler Anderson. While the real-life team might not be winning a title anytime soon, it certainly could in MLB The Show 23.

  

7. Philadelphia Phillies

Despite sharing a division with two teams that had over 100 regular season wins, the Philadelphia Phillies went on a tear during the post season to reach the World Series, ultimately losing to the Houston Astros. The Phillies take the 7th spot thanks to being 1st in Speed, 5th in Pitching, and 6th Contact. The roster includes five players with a 90 or higher Overall rating; RF Bryce Harper, SS Trea Turner, SP Aaron Nola, C J.T. Realmuto, and SP Zack Wheeler.

  

6. New York Mets

The New York Mets take the 6th spot after posting a 101-61 season, which was one win short of winning the NL East. The Mets take the 6th spot while being ranked 1st in Contact and 2nd in Pitching, placing below average in the rest of the categories. Despite no longer having Jacob deGrom, the Mets are a pitching powerhouse, adding reigning AL Cy Young winner SP Justin Verlander to a roster that already had SP Max Scherzer and CP Edwin Díaz. The New York Mets also have some impressive position players in 1B Pete Alonso, SS Franxisxo Lindor, and 2B Jeff McNeil.

  

5. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers, who won the NL West with a League best 111-51 record, come in at 5th best in MLB The Show 23. The Dodgers secure their spot thanks to being fairly well rounded, ranking 4th in Pitching, 9th in Defense, 11th in Power, and 13th Contact. Despite having a strong record overall, the Dodgers only have three players above 90 Overall rating in RF Mookie Betts, SP Clayton Kershaw, and CP Evan Phillips. Other stand out players are 1B Freddie Freeman, C Will Smith, and SP Julio Urías.

  

4. Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have a ton of great players, resulting in them being in the top 10 in every category.MLB's sole Canadian team, the Toronto Blue Jays finished second in the AL West, with a 92-70 record. The Blue Jays secured its spot at number 4 by being a top 10 team in all five categories, 9th in Contact, 4th in Power, 8th in Pitching, 2nd in Defense, and 8th in Speed. More impressive is that the Blue Jays don't have any players above a 90 Overall rating, even with All-Stars like 1B Valdimir Guerrero Jr. and SP Alek Manoah. Other notable players include RF George Springer, SP Kevin Gausman, and C Alejandro Kirk.

  

3. Houston Astros

The reigning World Series Champions, the Houston Astros rank 3rd overall in MLB The Show 23. Despite middling Speed and Defense, the Astros reached the 3rd spot thanks to being 2nd in Contact, 3rd in Power, and 7th in Pitching. The Houston roster includes multiple All-Star players in LF Yordan Alvarez, former MVP 2B José Altuve, and RF Kyle Tucker. The Astros also have an impressive pitching staff with SP Framber Valdez, SP Cristian Javier, and CP Ryan Pressly.

  

2. New York Yankees

The New York Yankees won the AL East with a 99-63 record, securing the 2nd overall spot, Ranking 1st in Defense, 3rd in Pitching, and 5th in Power, the Yankees have one of the best starting rotations in the MLB in Carlos Rodon, Gerrit Cole, Luis Severino, and Nestor Cortes Jr. On top of that, the Yankees have the reigning AL MVP and 99 Overall-rated RF Aaron Judge, in addition to other great players like 1B Anthony Rizzo, 3B D.J. LeMahieo, and RF Giancarlo Stanton.

  

1. Atlanta Braves

Taking the top spot in MLB The Show 23, the Atlanta Braves secured the NL East last season with a 101-61 record. The Braves earned the top spot in the game thanks to being ranked 1st in both Power and Pitching, as well as 4th in Contact. Atlanta's roster includes a ton of great hitters in RF Ronald Acuña Jr., 3B Austin Riley, 1B Matt Olson, 2B Ozzie Albies, and NL Rookie of the Year CF Michael Harris II. The pitching staff is as impressive, with SP Max Fried, SP Spencer Strider, RP A.J. Minter, and CP Raisel Iglesias.
