Thursday Sony Computer Entertainment America announced that sales since September of Final Fantasy VII have exceeded one million copies. Not only is this monumental for a PlayStation title, it's the first time that an RPG has sold one million copies on a console so quickly.
"Final Fantasy VII's success in North America has surpassed our original sales expectations, and with the holidays steadily approaching, this is only the beginning," Andrew House, SCEA's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "We knew the anticipated strength of the Final Fantasy franchise was going to reach a broad audience of both epic adventure enthusiasts and traditional fans of the series. But the sales success reported from our retailers to date is proving that an expansive variety of video game players is buying Final Fantasy VII."
The game's steady sales haven't seemed to slow yet, and with the holidays fast approaching, the game will probably continue to sell well.
