Midway Games has announced that, in an effort to cut its overhead costs in the coin-op business, it has reduced its work force in that department by approximately 60 employees. This translates to about 8 percent of the company's total workforce. Midway blamed the increasingly slow sales in the coin-op industry in general for this most recent restructuring move. As a result of today's announcement, Midway's commitment to the distribution and development of arcade hardware and games will also be reduced.
However, Midway did say that it is actively seeking employees for its home gaming sector, and it will now focus its resources on console development.
