Oct 17, 2024 7:55 PM

Microsoft Australia today announced it will be dropping the price of the Xbox 360 Kinect bundle by A$50, effective from September 15.

The new recommended retail price (RRP) of the 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle and the 250GB Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle will now be A$399 RRP and A$499 RRP respectively.

Microsoft also announced that it will be introducing the 4GB Xbox 360 as a stand-alone entry-level console to the Australian market. The new console will come with built-in Wi-Fi, a black wireless controller, a standard definition composite A/V cable, and a free one-month Xbox Live Gold membership. It will retail for A$249 RRP and will be available for the first time in October.

The publisher took the opportunity to reiterate that voice support for the Kinect will arrive "in the next few months" in Australia and will be followed by a range of new Kinect titles, including Kinect Disneyland Adventures, Kinect Sports Season 2, and Dance Central 2.

Microsoft has also announced that it will be hosting a series of events around Australia to showcase its new Kinect software, beginning with The Melbourne Show from September 19. More details on the road show will be released soon, and GameSpot AU will update the story as news comes in.
