Microsoft CEO: PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (XB1/PC) To Run on Microsoft Azure-November 2024
Nov 22, 2024 6:34 PM

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, the hit game of 2017, will be running on Microsoft’s Azure Cloud Computing Platform.

Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, confirmed this during the company’s most recent financial earning call. According to Nadella, games are among the most CPU and GPU-intensive applications and content, giving Microsoft a big opportunity in the cloud.

“Gaming pushes the boundaries of hardware and software innovation, with some of the most CPU and GPU-intensive applications and content, giving us a huge opportunity in the cloud”, Microsoft’s CEO told investors. “As one example, PUBG Corp., with the hit game PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, is not only partnering to make Xbox the exclusive console at launch but is also running on Azure.”

It will be interesting to see how PUBG on Xbox One (including Xbox One X) and PC will benefit from running on Microsoft’s Azure platform.

Other titles that are using Azure are Titanfall, Hitman, and Halo 5: Guardians.

PUBG is currently available for PC through Early-Access, and is expected to release for Xbox One by the end of this year.

As always, we will keep you updated on the matter.
