MGSV: The Phantom Pain officially came out less than a week ago, and yet it seems like Konami is already boasting three million shipped units worldwide.
That's what the folks at Neogaf have spotted in a banner for Japanese sites, at least.
It's not surprising once you consider the incredible hype surrounding the game itself - as a reminder, it's been over seven years since Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patirots, which debuted exclusively for PlayStation 3 on June 12, 2008.
Moreover, the controversy regarding Hideo Kojima's departure from Konami only ignited the flame, though a few die-hard fans have vowed not to support the Japanese company anymore as a punishment for their behavior with Mr. Kojima.
MGSV: The Phantom Pain is the first open world entry in the whole series, marking a significant change from the previous games which all occurred in fairly confined spaces. So far I'm digging the new structure, though it was somewhat jarring at first, perhaps because it's also so different.
Look forward to our review soon, and let us know your impressions below. In case you didn't buy the game yet, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is available for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the price of $/€ 59.99.
