Kirkland, Washington-based wireless game publisher Mforma Group Inc. announced today that a second round of venture capital would add an additional $40 million to the company's coffers. Premier venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson will join existing investors General Catalyst Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners, who put up $44 million during Mforma's first round of financing last June.
Mforma's content reaches "over 500 million mobile users through over 100 wireless operators," said CEO Daniel Kranzler in a statement released today. "This round, plus our previous funding, gives us as much capital as if we had gone public, yet we still have the flexibility of a private company to innovate in our business," said Kranzler.
Mforma's lineup of mobile titles includes sports titles Tecmo Bowl and Barry Bonds: Home Run History, as well as arcade classics like Puzzle Bobble and Space Invaders.
