Metal Gear Survive Beta Available for Download on Xbox One; Has HDR and Xbox One X Enhancements-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 6:32 PM

The Metal Gear Survive beta is now available for download on Xbox One via the Australian store. Weighing in at 8GB, it's certainly not something that will fill your hard drives up.

Interestingly, the Metal Gear Survive beta is tagged as Xbox One X enhanced though KONAMI didn't provide any details on the enhancements yet (and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain didn't receive an Xbox One X update yet). Support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) displays is also included. Here's what you'll find in the beta test content-wise, according to the store description.

Play METAL GEAR SURVIVE'S CO-OP mode before the release of the full game! You will be one of the first to discover a thrilling and strategic team mode, taking place in a world infested by hostile creatures.

  BETA Contents

Experience the CO-OP mode in which up to 4 players team up and fight together

2 stages, Wrecked Base & Deserted Mine, and 3 different missions are available *You will not be able to carry over your save data to the full game. BETA Dates Jan 18th, 2018 to Jan 21st, 2018 (TBC)

  BETA Bonus Items

You will get the following rewards for the full game if you take part of the METAL GEAR SURVIVE BETA.

  1. Nameplate : FOX HOUND 2. Accessory : Metal Gear Rex Head 3. Accessory : Bandana

Metal Gear Survive's beta will also be available for Sony PlayStation 4, though unfortunately not for PC. However, the game will launch on all three platforms on February 20th in North America and February 22nd in Europe.

Kai was able to try the game a while ago and came away fairly positive that it could be a fun experience.

I was somewhat cautious on the prospect of a cooperative survival title being connected to Metal Gear, but after having played through Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and loving every minute of it, I knew that engine could put in some work. I was already a huge fan of the multiplayer missions to Peace Walker (Isla del Monstruo in particular) and knew that creating a strange synergy with survival and the FOX Engine could actually turn out pretty decently if the team could pull it off. While my time with Metal Gear Survive was brief, every minute of it left me wanting more.
