In Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's Forward Operating Base online mode, players have a few options for how they can unlock virtual currency, Mother Base Coins. You can earn them through gameplay, pay real-world money, or, like a mobile game, receive MB Coins as "bonuses" for logging in every day.
We took the screenshot you see below, which reveals the Daily Login Bonus schedule for the first week. To earn these bonuses, simply play the game online and you're set. The coins, and other bonuses, are available through the Rewards menu in your iDroid. Take a look at the full week one schedule below.
Forward Operating Base is essentially an extension of the single-player Mother Base system, where players can expand their offshore fortress and, in turn, generate more resources that will assist them in the single-player campaign. As Konami has previously stated, the first Forward Operating Base will be given to players for free, but players will need to pay between 1000 and 1200 Mother Base Coins to build another.
These coins can also be earned through gameplay. Information supplied by Konami in-game states that "you will start receiving rewards after proceeding to a certain point in the game."
It's important to note that Forward Operating Base is entirely optional. In addition, it remains to be seen how microtransactions might work in Metal Gear Online, the more traditional multiplayer mode coming to The Phantom Pain in October on consoles and in January 2016 for PC.
Whatever the case, The Phantom Pain is enjoying strong reviews, including a 10/10 from GameSpot. For more on the game's critical reception, check out this roundup of reviews.
