Fox's Prison Break ran for 90 episodes throughout 12 years with a movie and a nine-episode fifth season that acted more as a limited series and proper epilogue. Deadline is reporting that Hulu is in early development of a reboot of the drama series, that will not feature any of the original characters.
It is written and executive produced by Mayans M.C. co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner Elgin James with original series creator Paul Scheuring also executive producing. This reboot is described as a "new chapter", but is still set in the world of Prison Break according to Deadline's sources.
The original Prison Break follows two brothers--Lincoln Burrows, who has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, and Michael Scofield, who hatches a plan to help Lincoln escape prison. The show was a huge hit and earned a Golden Globe for Best Television Series Drama for its debut season.
The series has been adapted in other formats including comics, a manga by Hikosuke Soyama, and even video games. In January 2018, Fox confirmed that Season 6 was in the early development stages. However, two years later, Fox announced that it had no current plans to revive Prison Break again.
