Wargaming.net announced today that it is working on Phantom Resistance, a stand-alone expansion pack for the popular strategy game Massive Assault. "Considering how well Massive Assault and Massive Assault Network were accepted by [the] gaming community, [the] Massive Assault franchise will be Wargaming.net's major focus for the next couple of years," said Victor Kislyi, president of Wargaming.net.
Along with adding new planets, units, and maps, Phantom Resistance will add a new gameplay mode--assault--to the game. Assault will let players stage sieges and infiltration operations as they attempt to capture a network of enemy strongholds using a limited number of resources and turns.
Phantom Resistance will also include 20 new single-player scenarios and two mega campaigns. Each will feature different objectives based on whether the player is controlling the defensive-minded F.N.U. or the attack-prone Phantom League. The mega campaigns will also include world war and assault missions.
Phantom Resistance will be compatible with Massive Assault Network for online play and will include its own tutorial mode for newcomers to the Massive Assault series. We'll provide more details on the release date when they become available.
