Mass Effect Andromeda could still come to the Nintendo Switch according to the game’s producer, Fabrice Condominas.
Rumors about a possible Switch version of Mass Effect Andromeda have been circulating around the web for quite some time until Bioware’s Michael Gamble stated that a Switch version wasn’t being planned. Gamble didn’t entirely rule out a Switch version in the future, and producer Condominas seconded that in a recent interview with indie magazine, Grab it Magazine.
When the Nintendo Switch rumours were swirling about last year, it was strongly rumoured that Mass Effect Andromeda would be a launch game, but then that got shut down quite heavily. So what happened there with Mass Effect and the Switch?
First, we were too deep in development to focus on a new console. Secondly, the door is open, we have nothing against the Switch even if we have nothing for the Switch. If the Switch is a significant success we will revisit that. So the door is certainly not closed, it just wasn’t the right timing for us.
So, it appears there’s still hope for those hoping for a Switch release. Publisher EA has expressed its enthusiasm for Nintendo’s new platform but only FIFA has been officially announced for the Switch.
Mass Effect Andromeda is scheduled for a release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 21. The Nintendo Switch will release next week on March 3.
