Mass Effect Andromeda Is The Third Biggest Launch Of The Year In The UK; Fewer Physical Copies Sold Than ME3-September 2024
Sep 20, 2024 11:13 PM

Mass Effect Andromeda, the new entry in the role-playing game series developed by BioWare, has finally been released last week in all regions on PC and consoles, and it looks like the game managed to do quite well in the UK, but not as well as two other games.

Mass Effect Andromeda is the third biggest launch of the year in the UK, according to Ukie, behind the recently released Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost Recon Wildlands. Mass Effect Andromeda first week is also the third best first week for the series in terms of physical sales, selling fewer copies than Mass Effect 3. Additionally, the game sold the most on PlayStation 4, with physical PC sales making up only the 4% of the total.

Last week, it's been revealed by BioWare's Fabrice Condominas that the team actually explored the possibility of Mass Effect Andromeda featuring procedurally generated planets. Ultimately, this approach didn't make much sense for the game, as procedurally generated content couldn't reach the level of quality the team wanted to achieve.

Our conclusion at the time was that it wasn’t for us in the sense that it wasn’t for the type of game we were doing. Because all the content we build we try and make to a high quality, but when we tried procedurally generated content we never reached the level of quality we wanted.

Mass Effect Andromeda is now available in all regions on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
