Marvel's Eternals Stunning Concept Art Revealed
Marvel's Eternals Stunning Concept Art Revealed-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 11:23 PM

Eternals was one of Marvel Phase 4 several movies announced at the Marvel Studios panel at last month's San Diego Comic-Con. The film is set to star Angelina Jolie and releases in November 2020. Some early concept art has now been revealed.

The art is by illustrator Rodney Fuentebella and was released as an exclusive poster at SDCC. Fuentebella has now posted the art on instagram--it shows the giant Celestials, who created both the Eternals and the evil Deviants. These otherworldly beings have already featured in the MCU--they appeared briefly during a flashback in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Kurt Russell's villainous Ego in the second Guardians movie is a Celestial. But this new image gives them an entirely new and incredibly impressive look. Check it out below:

Here is the Marvel’s Eternals poster I did for the San Diego Comic-Con 2019. This was an exclusive poster given out on Sunday at the event. I cannot believe I was able to do this poster for @sdcc_2019 !! Thanks to @marvelstudios and @ryan_meinerding_art for letting me paint this poster. Be sure to check this movie when it comes out... we are working really hard on this one too! Enjoy! - @marvel #eternals #marvel #digitalart #digitalpainting #zbrush #photoshop #mcu #exclusive #painting #conceptart @rodneyimages

At the SDCC panel, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige described the tone of Eternals as being "full Jack Kirby," referring to the famed comic book artist/writer's unique and colorful cosmic art style, and Fuentebella's art certainly captures some of this flavor.

Eternals hits theaters on November 6, 2020. It'll be directed by Chloe Zhao (The Rider, Songs My Brother Taught Me), and the cast features Jolie (in the role of Thena), Kumail Nanjiani (as Kingo Sunen), Salma Hayek (as Ajak, the Eternals' leader), Brian Tyree Henry (as Phastos), Don Lee (as Gilgamesh), Lia McHugh (as Sprite), and Richard Madden (as Ikaris).

The other new Marvel movies that were announced at SDCC are Black Widow, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Doctor Strange 2: Madness In The Multiverse, Thor: Love And Thunder, and a Blade reboot. New details were also revealed about upcoming Marvel TV shows being made for Disney+, such as Falcon And The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki.
