Nov 1, 2024 10:28 PM

Disney+ has announced that Eternals will come to the streaming service on January 12. It will join 13 other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies now streaming in IMAX Enhanced on Disney+.

The movie is directed by Nomadland's Oscar-winner Chloe Zhao. When Marvel's Eternals was first announced as coming to the MCU, studio president Kevin Feige described the tone as being "full Jack Kirby," referring to the famed comic book artist/writer's unique and colorful cosmic art style, and described the characters as "a group of immortals who have been on earth for 35,000 years, but we haven't met them before." In his review for GameSpot, Mason Downey called Eternals a "gorgeous experiment."

Eternals stars Jolie as Thena, Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh. Feige and Nate Moore are the producers, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Kevin de la Noy serving as executive producers.

Elsewhere, recently in the MCU, actor Gael García Bernal (Old, Coco) was cast in an upcoming Halloween special from Marvel Studios for Disney+. The special's plot details are still completely under wraps.

The latest MCU movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, came to Disney+ in November.
