Mark Wahlberg's Sci-Fi Action Movie Infinite Is Going Straight To Paramount Plus In June-January 2024

The upcoming sci-fi action thriller Infinite is skipping theaters and heading straight to Paramount+ in June. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg and was previously scheduled for a theatrical release in September.

Infinite is directed by Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer, Training Day) and was originally scheduled for release in August 2020. It was subsequently pushed back an entire year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The movie also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Cookson, Dylan O'Brien, Rupert Friend, and Jason Mantzoukas. It's based on the novel The Reincarnationist Papers by D. Eric Maikranz, and focuses on a schizophrenic man who joins a secret organization known as the Infinite, whose members possesses the ability to access events from past lives. Infinite doesn't have a confirmed release date on Paramount+, but on a ViacomCBS earnings call, CEO Bob Bakish confirmed that it will be in June.

Paramount+ is ViacomCBS's rebranding and expansion of CBS All-Access. The service launched in March, and like services such as Disney+ and HBO Max, it is using high-profile movies to drive subscriptions. Many of Paramount's biggest upcoming films will hit Paramount+ only 45 days after their theatrical release, including Mission Impossible 7, No Time To Die, and A Quiet Place: Part 2.

On the earnings call, Bakish also stated that Paramount+ has added an additional six million global subscribers in its first quarter, bringing its worldwide total to 36 million paying users.
