In the past few months, we have talked several times about an unannounced Nintendo Switch exclusive RPG developed by Ubisoft, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Now, the game's key art has leaked online, confirming the game's existence, as well as several images which give additional details on the yet to be announced RPG.
According to the images detailing the pitch and concept of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle acquired by Nintendo World Report, the game will be 35% about exploration and 65% about combat. The battle system is going to be a bit more strategic than in other Mario RPGs, with players being able to use 8 different characters, all wielding weapons: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi and 4 Rabbids dressed like them. Lastly, the game will allow 2 players local co-op.
The Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle rumor from earlier this month also talked about some of the game's most unique features like the goofy sense of humor, the local co-op features and the weapon based combat.
Although the person who sent the assets asked us not to share them, they corroborate the existence of a bizarre crossover RPG that’s currently scheduled to come to Switch in either August or September. Ubisoft is developing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle on the publisher’s proprietary Snowdrop engine, according to the assets we’ve seen. The game’s selling points appear to be a) turn-based combat, b) two-player local co-op, and c) a goofy sense of humor. (The art we’ve seen features Mario and crew wielding guns that shoot laser beams.)
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is to be announced at this year's E3, with a scheduled late Summer release. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more comes in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
