Mana Bar's expansion in the Victorian capital of Melbourne has hit a snag. The bar was originally slated to open its doors in mid-December, but the launch has now been pushed back to 2011. A posting on the bar's Facebook page last night confirmed the news. "The Mana Bar opening in Melbourne has been delayed due to processes beyond our control, and unfortunately we are going to miss our 2010 deadline," the Facebook post stated.
Mana Bar spokesperson Guy Blomberg told GameSpot AU that the reason for the delay was because of liquor licensing in Victoria. "When we planned on opening in December, that was realistic. It comes down to [the fact that] applying for a liquor license is a tangled, bureaucratic process," he said.
"Although we've been through it in Queensland, every state is different. We underestimated it."
Renovations to the Melbourne bar are currently in their final stages, and it's set to be even larger than the Queensland venue. Blomberg is remaining tight-lipped about a new opening date, however. "We've got an idea, but we don't want to put a date on it yet. We want to get it right," he said.
