GBA video player Just over a month ago, Majesco announced that it has developed software that will allow Game Boy Advance owners to watch videos on their game decks. The technology packs 45 minutes of full-motion from a standard 256-megabit GBA cartridge, letting users control playback with a DVD-style interface.
Starting May 1, Majesco will release a dozen video cartridges for the GBA. Launch titles will be either from Nickelodeon (SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, and Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius) or the 4Kids cartoon catalog (Sonic X and Yu-Gi-Oh!). A full catalog of the titles can be seen on Majesco's official GBA video site.
Recently, Majesco's Vice President of Marketing Ken Gold stopped by the GameSpot offices to give us a firsthand look at some GBA video in action. While the quality looked a tad blocky on a full-sized television, on the GBA it looked fluid and watchable. In a video interview with GameSpot Live, Gold explained the technology used for GBA video and Majesco's plans for it.
