When Mad Catz originally announced its line of Street Fighter IV peripherals headlined by a Tournament Edition FightStick using actual arcade parts, there was some question about how big the market for a $150 joystick really was. The answer is "bigger than Mad Catz first thought," as the first shipment of sticks and $40 FightPads for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 quickly sold out.
The peripheral maker is following up on that initial success with a Round 2 line of Street Fighter IV accessories, featuring six new FightPads with character-specific artwork and another version of the Tournament Edition FightStick. The six world warriors receiving the FightPad treatment this time around are M. Bison, Sagat, Guile, Zangief, C. Viper, and Cammy. It appears the Special Edition FightStick, an $80 alternative joystick with imitation parts inside, will not make a return in the Round 2 line.
Mad Catz has been going FightStick crazy of late, having released limited quantities of the Tournament Edition with new art and color combinations for the San Diego Comic-Con and Penny Arcade Expo. The company also has a $160 Marvel vs. Capcom 2-themed FightStick set for release exclusively at GameStop (and Capcom and Mad Catz' online stores) later this year.
