Lost Michael Jackson Amusement Park Game Discovered In UK Flea Market
Lost Michael Jackson Amusement Park Game Discovered In UK Flea Market-October 2024
Oct 26, 2024 2:33 AM

Footage from a lost Michael Jackson arcade game has been found thirty years after the fact. The pop star appeared in Sega's game Scramble Training, an arcade title built for large motion pods that you could find at Sega World amusement parks.

According to Gaming Alexandria, the arcade ride-game was released in March 1993, just as the first of several allegations of child sexual abuse by Jackson emerged publicly. This caused the game to receive a much more limited release than planned, and it quickly slipped into the dustbin of gaming history. However, a collector recently found a tape containing the full recordings of Scramble Training's FMV footage at a UK rummage sale, and the footage is now on YouTube.

Michael Jackson's involvement with Sega in the early 1990's is well-known, from the arcade game Michael Jackson's Moonwalker to his well-publicized involvement with the soundtrack of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, one of the great "open secrets" in retro gaming. That fact came up again this year when Sega replaced the songs that Jackson apparently worked on with different versions from a prototype version of the game in the Sonic Origins re-release, presumably due to legal concerns.
