Lords of the Fallen PC System Requirements Are Surprisingly Low
Lords of the Fallen PC System Requirements Are Surprisingly Low-December 2024
Dec 23, 2024 7:44 PM

At some point after the recent opening of the pre-orders, CI Games added the minimum and recommended system requirements for Lords of the Fallen on the game's Steam page.

It is no exaggeration to say that they are quite low, considering the level of visuals showcased in recent gameplay trailers. Lords of the Fallen was even featured on Epic's State of Unreal live stream earlier this year to showcase the developer's usage of Unreal Engine 5 technology, mainly the Lumen global illumination technology.

  MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 10 64bitProcessor: intel i5 8400 | AMD Ryzen 5 2600Memory: 8 GB RAMGraphics: 6GBs VRAM | NVIDIA GTX-1060 | AMD Radeon RX 590DirectX: Version 11Network: Broadband Internet connectionStorage: 45 GB available spaceAdditional Notes: 720p Low Quality Settings | SSD (Preferred) | HDD (Supported)

  RECOMMENDED:

OS: Windows 10 64bitProcessor: intel i7 8700 | AMD Ryzen 5 3600Memory: 16 GB RAMGraphics: 8GBs VRAM | NVIDIA RTX-2080 | AMD Radeon RX 6700DirectX: Version 12Network: Broadband Internet connectionStorage: 45 GB available spaceAdditional Notes: 1080p High Quality Settings | SSD RequiredGranted, these settings certainly do not account for any potential ray tracing support, but Lumen was first conceived as a software solution.

The second installment in the Lords of the Fallen series has had quite a troubled development history. It was first announced in late 2014, shortly after the release of the first entry (featuring the same title), which was arguably the first successful Soulslike game modeled after FromSoftware's formula.

However, following the split with German studio Deck13 (developer of the first Lords of the Fallen), CI Games attempted to produce the game internally. That didn't go well, and the project was scrapped while Defiant Studios was brought on board as a new developer in 2018.

Defiant's time with the project was even more short-lived, as CI Games revealed yet another split with them in 2019. The following year, the publisher helped found Hexworks, a new studio that would take care of the long awaited sequel.

It looks like the development went rather smoothly this time, for Lords of the Fallen (set 'eons' after the events seen in the previous title) will be released on October 15th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Some of its key features include the dual worlds of the living and the dead, a fully interconnected game world, nine starting classes, in-depth character customization, and seamless co-op multiplayer with a second player (and optional PvP invasions).
