Long Island legislators consider game-rating law
Long Island legislators consider game-rating law-March 2024
Mar 19, 2025 6:51 AM

Oyster Bay, New York-based Web site The Northender is reporting that Nassau County legislators are considering a local law that would require retailers selling games with ratings to post information about the ratings used, as well as offer written materials about the system. Those who violate the law would be fined $500, although they would also be given the chance to be heard by the Commissioner of Consumer Affairs. The law is scheduled to be voted on by the Nassau County Legislature November 1. As of press time, a representative from the Entertainment Software Association had not yet said where the organization stands on the issue.
