Lego Super Mario Is Now Crying Out For His Brother Luigi
Lego Super Mario Is Now Crying Out For His Brother Luigi-October 2024
Oct 17, 2024 12:20 PM

If you ever thought that Mario's Lego incarnation looked a bit lonely without his brother Luigi by his side, then the feeling is mutual, as Nintendo's iconic plumber appears to be looking for his green sibling.

As spotted by Eurogamer, Twitter user Jay Phoenix updated his Lego Super Mario toy and when he was switched back on, Mario immediately started calling out for Luigi. Here's the video, which isn't creepy at all:

On a Facebook post that detailed this week's Super Mario toy update, Lego's official account wrote in a tongue-in-cheek fashion that it was investigating Lego Mario's sudden insistence on finding its brother.

"Now that's a very creative way to get his missing brother. We did notice that Lego Mario has started calling for him, we're looking into it and hope to have clarity on why this is soon. Stay tuned! :)"

While it's probably not viral marketing for Toy Story 5 that has gone too far, it is a clever way for Nintendo and Lego to set the stage for Luigi's debut in the highly successful line of toys. Lego Super Mario was one of the biggest and most profitable launches for the Lego Company in recent memory, with a further 16 sets being added to the line back in January.

Lego fansites The Brick Fan and Brick Fanatics have also reported on rumors that Luigi will join his brother when a new series of toys arrive in summer, much to the delight of children who'll be reminded of this by Mario's verbal loneliness. The sets haven't been firmed by the Lego Company just yet, although an official announcement should be coming soon.
