The Lego video games based on The Lord of the Rings have returned to Steam. Reddit user knightpowell noticed that both Lego: The Lord of the Rings (2012) and Lego: The Hobbit (2014) are now available to buy once more on PC through Steam.
The games were removed from Steam (as well as PS3 and Xbox 360) in January 2019, with no explanation as to why. These titles seemingly require numerous licenses, from the films, Lego toys, and other rights-holders, so they might have been removed due to a licensing issue.

Other Lord of the Rings games, including Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, were never removed. It's not immediately clear if Lego: The Lord of the Rings and Lego: The Hobbit have been reinstated on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Lego: The Lord of the Rings and Lego: The Hobbit tell the stories of J.R.R. Tolkien's iconic stories, or more specifically the movies from Peter Jackson, with the characters represented by the brick characters and featuring a more whimsical approach.
The Lord of the Rings video game series continues with a new game based on Gollum that's due to launch in 2021 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. In addition, Amazon is developing a new Lord of the Rings MMO, but it's not connected to the company's TV show.
