Left Behind game links to iTunes-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 10:19 PM

Even after the rapture, there will be survivors, and there will definitely still be music--and you will be able to buy it.

That's the word from Los Angeles-based game-maker Left Behind Games, which today touted the inclusion of links to the iTunes Music Store in its upcoming real-time strategy game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces, which ships in October.

The Christian-themed game centers around those who are left behind after the rapture and the good-versus-evil battle that ensues. It will serve up in-game links that, when clicked on, will pause the game action and take the player to the iTunes store to download the song playing at the time the link appeared.

"We believe consumers want choices and prefer interactive advertising, rather than interruptive ads," Left Behind CEO Troy Lyndon said in a statement. "We are delighted to provide these music links as an added value to our gamers."

Games that place music at front and center are obviously nothing new, but giving users the chance to buy the music they're listening to while playing the game is. Left Behind: Eternal Forces is built around the music of composer Chance Thomas, who scored the Lord of the Rings and King Kong games.

Users will be able to create playlists of the songs they download while playing the game. Left Behind: Eternal Forces is initially being released for the PC, with possible later version planned for the Macintosh operating system.
