Apparently, the latest Halo Infinite PC patch is now locking out players with GPUs that have less than 4GB of VRAM.

　　Earlier this month, developer 343 Industries released Infinite's Season 3 Update 'Echoes Within', and last week the developer deployed a patch that (among other things) included a fix for a 120Hz option issue on Xbox Series X|S. From the looks of it, this latest patch is now preventing some PC players from playing the game. This issue was posted on the ResetEra forums and picked up by various outlets, including DSOGaming.

　　The official patch notes for the March 15 update don't make mention of any changes to the GPU VRAM requirement, and interestingly, as far as we know, the 4GB VRAM requirement has always been there since the game's launch back in December 2021. For the sake of completeness, we've included the minimum PC requirements (as listed on the Microsoft Store) below:

　　Prior to this patch, PC players playing the game with GPUs packing less than 4GB of VRAM were still able to play the game. As noted by DSOGaming, there are higher-end GPUs available that pack less VRAM - for instance, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060. Unfortunately, although this GPU offers more performance than the listed GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570, those owning this card still won't be able to play Halo Infinite after this latest patch. Frustrating for sure.

　　We haven't been able to find a response from 343 Industries about this matter, but we're pretty sure that one will follow shortly. We'll update you as soon as we learn more about this 4GB VRAM requirement. For now, stay tuned.

　　Halo Infinite is available globally now for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. After a delay following community backlash, the game was released on December 8, 2021. Here's what we had to say about the game in our launch review:

　　Halo Infinite is, in my opinion, the best game of the series. While still faltering in the narrative, character development, and exposition, it improves earlier titles. Combat is entertaining and engaging, with improvements made across the board, but mention must go to new abilities like the grappling hook. The move to an open world helps the game stand apart, with added freedom to take the fight to your enemies and a vast arsenal of weapons and vehicles to bring into battle.
