It's July 15, which means today is the last day that Xbox Live Gold members can download PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies for free on Xbox 360. The tower defense game is the first of two Xbox 360 games that will be free for subscribers in July as part of Microsoft's Games With Gold promotion.

　　Starting tomorrow, July 16, members can download Epic's 2011 action-shooter Gears of War 3 for free.

　　Xbox One owners, meanwhile, have been able to get Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag free since the start of the month, while indie game So Many Me will be available starting tomorrow.

Even though Plants vs. Zombies and Gears of War 3 are not currently among the list of backwards-compatible titles, Microsoft is planning to roll out greater support as the service becomes more widely available this fall.
